Four Recovering Addicts Baptized Today

Praise Jesus! After a headline like this one… need we say more?

Our team is honored to share a celebration moment, one that highlights a deep success that I'm still smiling about. Today four of our recent regular church goers – each a recovering addict with a dark, unpredictable past – dedicated their lives to Jesus through water baptism. AMAZING!

In contrast to the many obstacles we face on the daily in our ministry, each highlight and win for God’s kingdom is a welcomed celebration. We’ve guided these four friends to the truth and significance of baptism over the past few weeks, answering questions about what it means to dedicate their life to Jesus. Each one of these friends has one thing in common: a deep dark past of drug addiction.

I’m proud of the courage shown today as each of my friends stepped into the baptism pool to share a brief testimony of past addiction and their future hopes. It was moving to be part of the washing away of the old and a rebirth into new life! Today is a major success for the Kingdom of God, our city and our neighborhood block.

For those new to our ministry model, we partner with Paramount Recovery Houses in Chester to offer free coaching/counseling and recovery work with their clients and team. This has given us access to so many people in the process of a redemptive life change story out of addiction and into a daily commitment to sobriety. These people know they are messed up and broken. They are grossly familiar with heartache and pain – most pain, self inflicted.

The thread of God’s story throughout the Bible is a pursuit to save those who are lost, simply said. God loves redemption and transformation and, as a ministry planted in a city filled with depravity, obstacles and lost souls, we get to see it and experience it right here in Chester.

We don’t stop at Sunday Church. We model a discipleship lifestyle throughout the week at Greenhouse Project. Someone can get connected through Monday’s online recovery meeting, food outreach on Tuesdays, our weekly step meetings, regular volunteer projects, scheduled life coaching sessions and discipleship training.

Each person involved is in some way preparing another person like them to help give back to the next person.

We are seeing lives change at a house on the corner of a block in Chester. As we grow fully into two locations, we are praying that the 912House will have an even greater impact on those who need the hope of Jesus!

We want to see more days like today in Chester.

Join us by continuing to pray, advocate, volunteer, share our content, and donating when you feel called. We cannot operate without amazing partners like you – thank you!
