Help us give School Supplies to kids in need

As summer is winding down and we look forward to much cooler temperatures - goodbye 100 degree weather! - we are starting to get ready for the coming school year.

‘Back to school’ has us getting ready for our third year of Homework Club! Last year’s Homework Club was another great year with lots of fun, volunteers leading Bible stories, homework help, snacks, and hands-on activities for children who lived right down the street from us.

Over the past school year we can see how our Homework Club is getting more established and that is very encouraging. We really want to keep on growing!

It’s that time again to get our children ready to learn at school and become the growing life changers God created them to be. Greenhouse Project is gathering school supplies for neighborhood families and our Homework Club, which includes kids from 1st – 5th grades on Wednesdays during the school year.

Ready to make ‘back to school’ awesome?

Our goal is to raise money for 150 backpacks filled with school supplies by Friday, August 25 for children in need.

This year we are doing something different. Together with Councilman William Morgan we are hosting a Back to School Community Event on August 20. We are providing hamburgers, hotdogs, and other treats for this event and there will be games, bouncy house, and even a gaming truck. During this event anyone can come and get a backpack with free school supplies for their kids.

Why are we doing this? Many of the kids in this area are not able to afford quality school items. We want to see our community thrive and one way we can support our kids is by helping students have the tools they need to succeed in school.

How can you help?

1. GIVE CASH: $30 sponsors 1 backpack

Sponsor as many backpacks as you can today so we can get school supplies to the kids who need it most.

2. GIVE SUPPLIES: Shop our Amazon list.

Our pre-made supplies list has the usual back to school items so you can select exactly what you want to donate toward the backpacks. It also has items for our Homework Club that meets throughout the year. These items range from craft supplies, books, math activity books, fun games and toys, and even a few electronics. All of these are selected with the kids in mind to teach them, engage with them, and keep them occupied in a safe and joy filled environment. Just click and the item will be delivered to the Greenhouse Project in Chester. Our Amazon business account is tax exempt, which helps us stretch every dollar to steward God’s resources well.

3. GIVE TIME: Sign up to serve.

Volunteers help us grow and thrive. Are you passionate about tutoring kids, leading worship, Sunday Children's ministry, or outreach? Now is the perfect time to sign up to get involved!

4. GIVE PRAYERS: Become a prayer leader.

As you continue to pray for our ministry (thank you!), consider stepping into something new as a prayer leader for our weekly prayer meeting at the 44 House. Email Pastor John to learn more!

As our ministry team considers the work God is doing in Chester, we see a city transformed by the gospel–one story, one life at a time–by loving people where they are for life. As we continually seek God, we know a major part of urban renewal and life change will happen as we invest in youth education. We pray that the investment into our Homework Club will kick start something bigger by connecting kids with mentors who help them discover a love of learning and their unique passions!

Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support.
